Nurse Practitioner (1.0 FTE, contract)

Department: Nurse Practitioner
Location: Woodstock, ON

In addition to supporting our affiliated FHO’s, this position has the potential to develop a partnership with the Oxford OHT, and Ingersoll Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, enabling us to proudly collaborate in order to provide primary care services for residents that currently do not have access to a primary care provider. If this potential partnership develops, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will also provide primary care to unattached patients in Oxford County within the Ingersoll Nurse Practitioner Clinic.

The NP would have a community of practice with NP colleagues for mentorship and support and would be working in a team-based care setting when providing this care.

This partnership would also provide opportunity for independent autonomous work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Nurse Practitioner
  • And meets the Ontario college criteria to be authorized to prescribe controlled substances to practice to full scope without restrictions
  • Council of Ontario University Program in Nursing Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program Certificate (or recognized equivalent)
  • Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing required, Master of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current Membership with RNAO or NPAO and evidence of professional liability insurance
  • A solid understanding of, and a high degree of comfort working within the full scope of a Nurse Practitioner
  • Clinical confidence as a provider and leadership skills to help support and guide an on-site interdisciplinary team
  • Five years of experience in Community and/or a Primary Care Setting preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team-based care model
  • Availability to work extended hours or evening hours where required
  • Must have access to reliable transportation as travel between sites is required

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidenced-based methods, established clinical guidelines, and practices of primary care delivery, with an emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction
  • Commitment to Quality Improvement through organizational Performance Management and goal-directed care.
  • Strong leadership, organization, research, evaluation, time management skills
  • Experience in the use of EMR (Telus PS Suite Preferred), Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Desire and ability to update knowledge and skills through various means including technology-based opportunities, courses, workshops, and conferences
  • Multi-tasking skills related to the delivery of efficient primary care including the ability to share information and teach while treating a patient
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written and interpersonal skills) with the ability to navigate crucial conversations and manage conflict.
  • Exhibit an ability to be open minded, flexible, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive, and patient centered.
  • Knowledge of the goals, structure, and values of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to leverage other Interprofessional Healthcare Providers (IHP) in the provision of care to unattached patients.
  • Supporting Trans health care through specialized skills or targeted professional development in this position
  • Participating in occasional Pap test Screening programs for unattached patients in Oxford County

HOURLY RATE: is dependent on profession and experience ($54.4598- $66.4144)
